The Aged Care Channel (ACC) is a new subsidiary company of Satellite Express International, the Health Channel and Cable & Wireless Optus. |
What is the Aged Care Channel ? The Aged Care Channel is an independent satellite television channel providing access to an expanding range of live and interactive training programs, developed and produced specifically for staff of aged care homes in Australia. |
Founders The founders of the ACC have an established record of developing, producing and transmitting ongoing medical education programs for General Practitioners and Pharmacists. In 1992 a network of over 500 viewing sites was established leading to the launch of the Health Channel which offers a 'direct to home' service for the health care professionals. |
ACC Launch The Aged Care Channel was formally launched on the 23rd September 2003 by the Minister for Ageing - The Hon. Kevin Andrews. The Federal government granted the Aged Care Channel a $1.2 million grant to fund the installation of the Aged Care Channel in 100 small less viable aged care facilities around the country. The grant also covered the development and transmission of a 6 part series on Dementia to be broadcast via ACC. The Aged Care Channel now has in excess of 230 members Australia wide. |
ACC Program The Aged Care Channel is committed to quality programs and will develop and transmit at least 10 new programs per year. The core ACC Programs are developed in response to the mandatory training requirements of the AIN's and Carers. |
